It is I.
I had a conversation about the importance of creating and documenting your work or life for yourself, just because. These days, we get lost in the sea of creative work that's documented every day on the internet, to the point where we feel the need to wear shoes that don't fit.
If you've been here from day 1, you'll know that I started this substack with a pseudonym, A fraction of my thoughts, and this was my reason: because I was regaining my love for writing, I was "too shy" to associate myself with work that I felt was “mediocre”. So it was safer to hide behind a name. I tried to have a structure or dedicated framework, but that only defeated the purpose of this substack, which is to write more and dump my thoughts. From my last substack, if you noticed, my subheading had nothing about "articulating my thoughts on…"; I know there's nothing wrong with structure, but my creative work is based on free will with no restrictions.
I'm not writing for external validation, I'm just writing. My thoughts, feelings, experiences, etc. Why did I make it about others? Anyway, we live and learn.
Often times, we unconsciously or consciously make documenting about what others will think. Will people love it? Will this get numbers?
One of the reasons we are alive is to enjoy what we have for ourselves. It's about documenting your life's work, interests, hobbies for the heck of it. Not because it will get you your next big deal. That's only an add-on.
It is about creating joy for yourself physically or/and virtually.
This year, I'm owning up to my (creative) works with my full chest. No more hiding, no more silence. No need to aim for perfection.
I wrote it. I did it. It is I.
So, let me re-introduce myself: My name is Ganiru and I started this substack to document the random thoughts that will probably resonate with that one person, or just me. It doesn't matter.
Welcome and kachifoo!
